Bio

Narges Salehi is a Biomedical Engineer and Neuroscientist. She earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran, where she developed an algorithm for motion correction in cardiac imaging. During her PhD at the University of Marburg in Germany, under the supervision of Dr. Carina Oehrn, she studied the effects of therapeutic interventions on non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease. Her research demonstrated that theta frequency DBS enhances working memory performance in patients with Parkinson's disease, opening new avenues for developing DBS treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders. Narges is dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of Parkinson’s disease through her DBS research. She is currently investigating emotional processing in basal ganglia-cortical neural networks and their relationship to apathy, anxiety, and depression.
